There is a phrase that unlikeable people used to put on email footers when I worked in an office, which goes something like Dance Like There’s No One Watching, Love Like You’ve Never Been Hurt, Work Like You Don’t Need The Money and sundry other things which are, of course, impossible. To this I would add Blog Like There’s Nobody Reading, and you won’t be disappointed. That sounds a bit bleak, but I think ultimately you should blog because you just enjoy doing it, which in fact is pretty much what you are getting at here.

You’re talking to me aren’t you. I know I am all over the place in my blog. I know I can’t stop posting. Would you ask a rabbit to stop procreating.

I feel a little cheated. I saw your headline and rushed to the site thinking you were going to give up blogging. I was prepared to eloquently convince you to continue. Thus being a hero for real not just a legend in my own mind.

Instead I get just another great blog to read. Satisfying but not as good as being a hero.

If you find something interesting then there’s a strong chance other people will too. Just write clearly about things that you actually give a shit about and you might be pleasantly surprised by the response. And if, at first, you’re not getting much traffic there’s nothing to worry about because you’re enjoying the process of writing.
